Provost (engl., spr. prówwöst), in England Titel von höhern Geistlichen, auch von Vorstehern der Stadtverwaltungen gewisser Kollegien etc.; Lord-P. heißen die Bürgermeister von Edinburg, Glasgow, Aberdeen und Dundee.
