Staates Südaustralien, am Nordende des Spencergolfs, für die größten Dampfer zugänglich, durch Eisenbahn mit Adelaide und dem hohen Norden verbunden, hat bedeutende Ausfuhr von Wolle, Weizen, Mehl, Kupfererz, Häuten und Fellen, Talg, in der Nähe die größte Straußenfarm der Erde und (1901) über 2340 Einw. P. soll der eine Endpunkt einer transaustralischen Bahn werden (s. Kalgoorlie).
