Pithiviers (spr. -tiwjē), Arrondissementshauptstadt im franz. Depart. Loiret, 102 m ü. M., am Oeuf (Quellfluß der Essonne), Knotenpunkt der Orléansbahn, hat eine Kirche aus dem 12.–17. Jahrh., Denkmäler des Mathematikers Poisson und des Botanikers Duhamel du Monceau, Safranbau, Bereitung von Fleischkonserven, Lerchenpasteten und Mandelkuchen, Bienenzucht, Hanfspinnerei, Zuckerfabrikation und (1901) 6092 Einw. – P. war früher befestigt, wurde 1428 von den Engländern, 1562 und 1567 von dem Prinzen von Condé und 1589 von Heinrich IV. erobert.
