Orb, Stadt im preuß. Regbez. Kassel, Kreis Gelnhausen, an der Orb, einem Nebenfluß der Kinzig, und an der Bad Orber Kleinbahn, 181 m ü. M., hat eine katholische und evang. Kirche, Kurhaus, Amtsgericht, Oberförsterei, Kinderheilanstalt, Volksheilstätte für Lungenkranke, Saline nebst Solbad, Elektrizitätswerk, Zigarrenfabrikation und (1905) 3924 Einw., davon 198 Evangelische und 87 Juden. O. besitzt zwei jod- und bromhaltige Solquellen, die besonders bei Skrofulose und Rheumatismus angewendet werden, sowie einen Sauerbrunnen (zu Trinkkuren). Die Saline bereitet für den Handel Orber Badesalz. Der Ort kam 1866 von Bayern an Preußen.
