Administrātor (lat.), Verwalter, d.h. ein Bevollmächtigter, der fremde Güter im Auftrage des Eigentümers oder sonstiger Berechtigter, z. B. der Gläubigerschaft im Konkurs (a. massae, bonorum), verwaltet; im Kirchenrecht zeitweiliger Verwalter eines Kirchenamtes, insbes. einer vakanten Pfarrei; dann der vom Papst bestellte Verwalter eines Bistums sede impedita, d.h. wenn es durch gewaltsame Fernhaltung des Bischofs ohne Regenten ist; in Deutschland ehedem Titel der Verweser von früher katholisch gewesenen Erz- und Hochstiftern, von den Kapiteln gewählter (postulierter) protestantischer Fürsten; im frühern Staatsrecht soviel wie Regierungsverweser.
